Feel Good Friday - funny and cute

My mother-in-law is the queen of email. She's always sending on the cute, the funny and the just plain naughty ones.

Here are a couple of photos from one of this week's selection.

All together now... Awwwwwww!

Dachshund mum adopts piglet - if that doesn't make you feel good, I don't know what will.

Anyway, these pictures have probably been circulating for ages, and you might have already seen them, but I hope that they still give you a smile.

Now, over to you.

1. Write a post on your blog titled "Feel Good Friday". Make it uplifting, or funny, or cute...basically anything that makes you (and hopefully your readers) feel good.

2. Make sure you mention my blog "a reader's random ramblings" somewhere in the post and include a link to my blog if you can. (I'm working on a button for future weeks, but for now you'll just have to copy and paste the URL.)

3. Use the Linky below to link your post to mine so that all my followers can visit your blog and read your Feel Good Friday post. Make sure you use the URL of your post, not just the home page of your blog.

4. Visit the other participants, read their posts, and FEEL GOOD!

I know I've been saying that I'm "working on a button" for ages. Now I've got a confession to make. I know how to make a button. If you check the sidebar of my blog you'll see that the pictures for the challenges that I'm participating in are buttons. When you click on the picture, it takes you to the blog that is hosting the challenge. All good.

Here's what I don't know how to do. I don't know how to get the little window with code in it so that all of my lovely followers can copy the code and when they paste it into a blog post, my button appears. How do you do that?

I hope you can understand this question and if you know the answer then please leave me a comment!

Feel Good Friday - Can't Live Without...

Happy Friday everyone!

Guess who has finished and submitted all her uni assignments?

...and is just waiting to get her results to make sure that she has passed everything before she declares that she has officially finished her Master of Education?

Who me?

Yesterday I went out to run some errands and while I was at the shops I bought myself a little celebratory present...

...some new fragrance!

I can't live without fragrance.

Firstly, I'm a sensual person. I love scents, and tastes and beauty.

Secondly, I like to make the most of what I've got. I like to be well groomed and part of that, for me, is always smelling good!

For a couple of years now I've been wearing Jean Paul Gaultier 'Classique'.

LOVE IT! Love, love, love it.

But yesterday I decided to try some of Jean Paul's other scents for a bit of a change. After walking around the shopping centre with a scent on each arm for a couple of hours, I decided to get a bottle of 'MaDame'. It's quite different to Classique, but still from the same general fragrance family - floral top notes with a vanilla base. Time will tell whether I go back to Classique or if MaDame becomes my new favourite.

By the way, have you noticed that fragrances smell different on different people? You should never get a fragrance sample on a little card from the store - always try it on your skin. And always wear it for a while to allow the scent to develop. The 'top note' evaporates quickly, and you have to be sure that you like the way the fragrance smells as the middle note, then base note take prominance.

Anyway, enough of my little lesson on buying fragrance!

So, do you have a favourite fragrance that you can't live without?

Over to you. Please consider participating in 'Feel Good Friday'. You don't have to write about fragrance - just anything that makes you feel good!

Oooops! For some reason Mr Linky is not cooperating. If you decide to participate, then just leave a comment with the link.

Feel Good Friday - nearly finished uni and another cute puppy pic

Ooops! It's Friday morning and I haven't thought at all about this week's Feel Good Friday post. So you're not exactly getting a carefully prepared and composed piece of prose. However, I do have things to feel good about today, and I'd love to share them with you.

In just a little over two weeks, I will be finished all the course work for my Masters of  Education.

Finished.

Oh yeah!

I'm so looking forward to actually having my qualification. It will mean that I'll be eligible for Associate membership of ALIA (Australian Library and Information Association), which is a criteria that appears in lots of advertisements for jobs in libraries. I'm keen to get my foot in the door of a library to begin my career in the world of information services.

I have really enjoyed my study, but this last semester has been extremely difficult. I've had the heaviest course load of the whole degree, and two of the most difficult subjects to study at the same time. It's definitely been a struggle.

The weather is becoming "springish" around here.

Love spring!

Warmer weather means I was able to take Lucy for a walk along the waterfront the other day.

It was her first time in the water, and she loved it! I can't wait to take her to the beach, or out on the boat!

Now it's your turn.

1. Write a post on your blog titled "Feel Good Friday". Make it uplifting, or funny, or cute...basically anything that makes you (and hopefully your readers) feel good.

Feel Good Friday - the cute puppy edition

Lucy had a tough week last week. She was booked in on Monday (6th September) for her "special operation" i.e. desexing. The vet rang to tell me that she had responded badly to the sedative and would need IV fluids and medication to bring her heart rate and blood pressure back up into the land of the living.

Then during the op, the vet discovered that some of Lucy's anatomy was not exactly as it should be. This, coupled with the bad reaction to the sedative, led the vet to think that Lucy might have some congenital health issues, and recommended a blood test.

Blood tests back, it turns out that Lucy is healthy except for a couple of results that could mean that her liver is not functioning properly. Either that, or she just needs to eat a bit more and put on some weight.

So, you can imagine how relieved we all are that she has bounced back to her usual energetic self, is eating drinking, weeing and poo-ing just as she should! We've increased her food a bit, but she just seems to leave it behind if she doesn't want it, so that doesn't seem to be working so well :) We'll repeat the blood test in a few weeks to see how she's travelling.

I take Lucy for a walk every day. Her favourite things are: chasing leaves that are being blown in the wind, chasing ants and bees because they look interesting, smelling things, picking up rubbish in her mouth and carrying it along, drinking from the street gutter if there has been some rain, and digging in mud (also if there has been some rain).

Here is a cute pic of her licking her dirty face after some enjoyable mud-digging.

Yes, that is someone else's driveway in the pic, we were on our walk around the neighbourhood and this particular house had some mud - irresistable. I am a bit of a permissive doggy-mum!

Now it's your turn.

Feel Good Friday - Shout out to my mate Fi

It's Friday, and time for my regular "feel good" post. This morning was chaos - everyone had to get going earlier than usual and of course Alana's sports uniform was still wet and needed to go throught the dryer! I'm sure you know what I mean. Sitting down to write, I thought to myself, "What do I  have to feel good about today?" Thankfully, my good friend Fiona sprang to mind straight away!

Fiona and I just click. You know what I mean, when you can just talk and talk and it's so easy to spend time together. Yeah, that's us. We're not really alike, though we do have some things in common. We don't always agree, though we never fight. We've just got a great friendship in which we're completely happy to let each other "be themselves".

On Fridays, Fiona and I get together to swim laps for exercise and then have a coffee. Of course it's the coffee we really want! Some Friday mornings we don't really feel like swimming, but having each other helps us to just get on with it. Afterwards, in the change rooms, we always say to each other "Well, that's done - now off to coffee!"

We have a couple of favourite coffee shops that we frequent, and the baristas know us by sight and by name. One in particular always asks for a name to call out when your coffee order is ready. "Fiona," I say when I order my coffee. "Fiona," Fi says when she orders hers. The server smiles at us and I make a lame joke like "We travel in packs."

So I must get into my swimsuit and pack up my towel, goggles, shampoo and such. Roll on coffee...

Now it's your turn.

Feel Good Friday - The Shopping Edition

Yes folks, it's upon us again - Friday (hooray!).

This week it was my birthday, and my mum and dad were kind enough to give me a generous gift of some money to buy myself something nice.

I went shopping on Wednesday, and this is what I got:

One lovely new top for spring. The photo doesn't quite capture the colour, which is a vibrant fuchsia.

One delightful new skirt for spring.

I was going to add a photo showing you how lovely the skirt and top look together, but Blogger is being a bit difficult about uploading photos, so you'll just have to imagine it :)

Now it's your turn.

1. Write a post on your blog titled "Feel Good Friday". Make it uplifting, or funny, or cute...basically anything that makes you (and hopefully your readers) feel good.

Feel Good Friday - Spring Fling!

Spring is coming!

We're having typical August weather at my place - the sun is shining and the wind is blowing.

Yesterday it got up to about 23 degrees (73.4F), and it's supposed to be 20 degrees (68F) tomorrow according to my iPhone :)

The smell of Wattle is the smell of early spring to me. The Wattle has been blooming for a while, but it's not until the August winds start blowing that you can smell it in the air.

Soon the Freesias will be blooming with their heady, sweet scent.

Then there will be Jasmine everywhere.

Finally, I'll know that Christmas is nearly here when I can smell Gardenias.

Now it's your turn.

1. Write a post on your blog titled "Feel Good Friday". Make it uplifting, or funny, or cute...basically anything that makes you (and hopefully your readers) feel good.

2. Make sure you mention my blog "a reader's random ramblings" somewhere in the post and include a link to my blog if you can. (I'm working on a button for future weeks, but for now you'll just have to copy and paste the URL.)

Just for the record...

Hahaha...

Remember the post about it nearly being my birthday? Well, my birthday is NEXT Monday! Thankyou so much Brandy and Shannon for the birthday wishes, I was forgetting that even though it was Tuesday by the time I posted, it was still Monday for you, so there was a bit of confusion!

You can all wish me a Happy Birthday again next week LOL

I was supposed to get myself an early birthday present today, but it didn't quite work out. I'll be getting it on Monday instead...something that I've been wanting for a while...what will it be?!? I'll post pictures!

Don't forget I'll be having Feel Good Friday again this week - it will be Thursday where you are Brandy and Shannon LOL

Feel Good Friday

To celebrate my decision to create a new blog for my professional development (see this post), I've decided to create my very own weekly blog event!

Yay! (Cue the fireworks!)

I'm calling it "Feel Good Friday", and I'm inviting everyone to join in.

The instructions are very simple:

1. Write a post on your blog titled "Feel Good Friday". Make it uplifting, or funny, or cute...basically anything that makes you (and hopefully your readers) feel good.
2. Make sure you mention my blog "a reader's random ramblings" somewhere in the post and include a link to this post if you can. (I'm working on a button for future weeks, but for now you'll just have to copy and paste the URL.)
3. Use the Linky below to link your post to this one so that all my followers can visit your blog and read your Feel Good Friday post. Make sure you use the URL of your post, not just the home page of your blog.
4. Visit the other participants, read their posts, and FEEL GOOD!

So here's my post:

Have you ever felt that the world is a harsh and unforgiving place? That life is hard, and you're not sure if the pain is worth it? (Stick with me guys, the Feel Good bit is coming right up!)

Then you need to find something that gives you hope.

Gives Me Hope http://twitter.com/GivesMeHope is "Chicken Soup for the Soul - Twitter style". Full of personal stories about what gives people hope, this initiative is uplifting in the extreme. The stories often start out sad, but they always include a ray of light - hope.

Gives Me Hope is the ultimate antidote to depression. Check out this story as an example:

"Today my school had a fire drill.

I was standing outside with one of the most popular football players, when a Down Syndrome girl came up to him and wanted to hold his hand b/c she was scared.

Happily, he held her hand in front of all his friends back to class.

His soft side in front of his boys GMH (Gives Me Hope)"

You can read more at http://www.givesmehope.com/

Now don't think that just because my post is kind of serious, that yours has to be too. Not at all. I accept all kinds of feel-good content - from a funny picture of your kid, to a link to something on YouTube that cracks you up, to a funny story you heard. Anything at all that makes you Feel Good!

Now get cracking on your post and come back and link up!
